The 2016 interns for CaMLA’s internship program have been selected. Both come to us from Michigan State University. Dan Isbell is a first year PhD student in MSU’s Second Language Studies program. Laura Ballard is a third year PhD student in the Second Language Studies program.
Dan and Laura will be working closely with a number of CaMLA staff members on various assessment development projects. We are excited to have both of them with us this summer in Ann Arbor.

- Ute Römer and Jayanti Banerjee: “Validating the MET speaking test through phraseological analysis: A corpus approach to language assessment”
- Ruslan Suvorov: “Investigating test-taking processes and strategies during a computer-based MET: Evidence from eye tracking”

Linking the Common European Framework of Reference and the CaMLA Speaking Test summarizes the results of a standard-setting study conducted in October 2015. The purpose of this study was to link scores on the CaMLA Speaking Test to the proficiency levels of the Common European Framework of Reference.

The CaMLA internship program provides professional training and research opportunities for English language teaching professionals and graduate students. Successful applicants will work closely with CaMLA teams on English language assessment tasks and projects that are appropriate to their interests and skills.
